FAQs

What is the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment and how does it work?

The Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment™ is a soft wrap that attaches directly to the Tushbaby Hip Seat Carrier to create the first-ever hybrid baby carrier. It offers hands-free support for babies 12–45 lbs and allows you to carry your child face-to-face or forward-facing. Simply attach, wrap, and buckle; then store it neatly in the Tushbaby’s under-seat pocket when not in use.

Watch step-by-step setup tutorials on our Instructional Videos page to learn how to attach and wear your Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment safely and comfortably.

Can I use the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment without the Tushbaby Hip Seat?

The Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment is designed exclusively for use with the Tushbaby Hip Seat Carrier; it’s an attachment, not a standalone baby wrap. Together, they form a supportive 2-in-1 system that evenly distributes your baby’s weight and gives you the flexibility to go hands-free while keeping your baby close.

What age and weight range is the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment best for?

The Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment can be used for babies weighing 12–45 lbs, or roughly from 3 months to 3 years old. For face-to-face carrying, use it between 12–45 lbs, and for forward-facing, start at 16 lbs. It’s not suitable for newborns under 12 lbs, but it’s perfect for infants and toddlers ready for hands-free adventures.

Is the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment safe for my baby?

Yes — the Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment and Tushbaby Hip Carrier combo is tested to the new ASTM F2236-24 safety standard and made from OEKO-TEX 100 certified materials. The Hip Carrier keeps your baby in the recommended “M” sitting position for healthy hip development and ensures a snug, supported fit when properly worn, while the Hands-Free Attachment keeps them close and supported during hands-free babywearing. Always follow babywearing safety guidelines and the T.I.C.K.S. rule: Tight, In View, Close Enough to Kiss, Keep Chin Off Chest, Supported Back. Learn more about the benefits of babywearing on the Tushbaby blog.

How is the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment different from a regular baby wrap?

Traditional baby wraps can be tricky to tie and often lack structure. The Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment combines the comfort of a wrap with the support and storage of a structured carrier by attaching to the Tushbaby Hip Carrier. Its buckle-and-strap design means no endless fabric to twist — just an easy-on, easy-off solution that gives you hands-free flexibility and back support.

How do I clean and store the Tushbaby Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment?

The Hip Seat Hands-Free Attachment is made from a soft, stretchy blend of rayon, polyester, and spandex. It’s machine washable on delicate and should be laid flat to dry. When you’re done babywearing, it folds compactly to fit inside the Tushbaby’s under-seat storage pocket—perfect for on-the-go parents who love convenience.

Reviews

Great addition to the OG and great customer service

"This has been one of the best buys. My husband even says so. We took it on vacation and it saved my back through the airport, on the beach, and walking through town. I love I can take it off and carry my toddler still as well. Customer service was supreme as well. When my original purchase was not going to come on time, they replaced it and sent the new one express shipping so it would get to me in time."

— Hailey S. (5/5)

Great!

"I love this carrier much more than the ergo baby and sling I bought. I do wish that somehow it was height adjustable. And also wish the securing buckles didn’t align to wrapping right around my baby’s belly because if I want her snug against me it seems like the tighter I go the more pressure it puts on her little tummy which might not be comfortable for her. She doesn’t seem too bothered but there ya go."

— Jamen K. (4/5)

I absolutely loved my Tush

"I absolutely loved my Tush baby hip carrier with Snug attachment. My baby girl is 6 months old and does great in while we walk around the store. Not to mention I have had no back issues using it. Would 100% recommend to everyone!"

— Whitney W. (5/5)

My favorite

"I love my tush baby. I keep it on me and will switch between my newborn and toddler. It's helpful at all ages, the baby seems to love it when I use it to help support him when I hold him. He goes to sleep almost instantly."

— Mandy H. (5/5)

Overall nice concept

"Overall it’s a great idea, my baby loves to be able to be carried facing outward and this is the best way for him to do it for now. We love the storage it has and the little seat for him. A few things to consider - the material of the attachment is very stretchy so if you want to do chores with this one baby isn’t very secure or supported if they fall asleep in it. It’s also bulky so certain things are harder to do. It’s comfy in that it doesn’t dig into my shoulders but it isn’t as adjustable or ergonomic as some other carriers either. A big thing for me is that I even though I wear the hip seat high to support baby it pushes down on my stomach and overtime it hurts my c section scar. Not because it sits on top of it, because it pushes the rest of my stomach down. Just something to be aware of if you’ve had a c section! I wish I could combine this and the ergo baby classic and it would be perfection!"

— Analea L. (4/5)

Amazing

"So this is my favorite carrier. I didn’t use it much before she could hold her head up but now I use it all the time. I got it for my baby shower and later purchased the carrier that attaches to it and love both! Everywhere I go other moms will say “I gotta get me one of those” It supports my baby sitting up facing me or facing out, even when she is sleeping it supports my arm holding her. Only downside is when taking it off the Velcro is loud so I can’t take it off around her If she is sleeping. That’s all"

— Karissa D. (5/5)

Yesterday I went to Magic

"Yesterday I went to Magic Kingdom and carried my 9 month old on the tushbaby for at least a couple of hours. Normally, my back wouldn’t have been able to handle 30 straight minutes of carrying him, but today I don’t feel any pain. Maybe a mild discomfort, but that’s a huge win! And he loved being held and being able to look out and see all the magic ✨ We all are loving the tushbaby!"

— Jillian B. (5/5)

Best Baby purchase

"One of my best purchases for my baby. He’s a big boy and he did not like facing the person holding him. I bought all the attachments. My favorite go to is just the Fanny pack style where I hold him. It’s convenient when you have multiple stores and you just grab the bay and go. It also saves my shoulders from holding him with just my arms. Lots of moms have tried mine and they love it. This is also my 8th baby carrier purchase because the first 7 could not help me or my son. Nothing made him happy because it was too restrictive for him."

— Katie T. (5/5)

My lower back thanks Tush Baby!

"Great support for wiggly kiddos that still want to remain close. The additional front facing attachment has been a game changer as my little one transitions from hugging me to wanting to see the world more. I love the customization and versatility. 100% can be used from birth to toddler years"

— Sarah W. (5/5)

"First off: EXCELLENT product. I am a first time mother and the 2 in one convertible carrier has made my day to day activities with my daughter a breeze. It's so easy to put on ny myself vs other baby carriers. I am giving the 2 in one carrier 4 out of 5 stars because of the back strap in the baby carrier. It would be 5/5 if the strap was made out of flexible fabric instead of the stiff fabric that was chosen. Once I have my daughter settled in perfectly, I notice the strap makes her uncomfortable at first due to the stiffness. She is unable to move at all which I know can sound great, but the hard strap worries me about what this could do to her longterm; her comfort is always over mine non negotiable. The other carriers I have purchased do not have that issue at all. Again, I absolutely love this product, and would love to purchase another one IF it had the stretchy backstrap. <3"

Q&A

Hi, I love my tushbaby! I know it can hold up to 45lbs but is the snug attachment safe for bigger babies as well? Thank you!
Hi Sara, yes it is! The Snug can also hold up to 45lbs :)
Can you use the snug attachment without using the Tushbaby? Like as a carrier or it has to be worn with the Tushbaby support
Hi there, the Snug is designed to be used exclusively with Tushbaby and Tushbaby Lite carriers. It cannot be used as a standalone carrier or with other carriers
Does the black fade or becomes linty after washing?
We have had no complaints about this :)
Will the snug attachment work with ALL versions of the TushBaby? I bought my TushBaby with extender 3-5 years ago with my first grandbabies.
Yes, the Snug attachment works with all version of the Tushbaby.
Can you use the snug in a piggy back position?
Hi there, no you cannot. It is meant to be worn in the front.
My baby often falls asleep on the tush baby. Can the snug attachment be attached once the baby is already on/asleep or does it need to be attached before baby is on the seat?
Hi Naomi, Yes it can!
Does this fit all sizes? I would like to have myself and my husband use it. Thanks!
The snug is size friendly. It has adjustable straps on the side and the fabric is very stretchy.
Can this be used when the baby is on your hip with the tushbaby? My 14 mo prefers to be on my hip, but I’m afraid to solely use the tushbaby because she sometimes tries to throw herself backwards.
The snug can only be worn with the tushbaby positioned in front of you and not on your hip.
Can this be used with the tush baby lite?
Yes it can!
Can the snug be used with an infant forward facing without over extending the hips
Yes
