The Waistband Extender

A waistband extender is exactly what it sounds like: a stretchy, soft strap that extends or lengthens the waistband of a given piece of clothing, usually pants or something that is worn around a person’s waist. A simple google search will show you how to make a waist extender and extend a waistband using products you have at home. Some are simple and involve ponytail holders — yes, rubberbands — while others may include putting your jeans in your freezer for a quick stint (your read that correctly!) Other DIY suggestions include using a sewing machine. Remember that extending the waistband on your clothes is typically a temporary fix to a current situation, so try not to stress too much over finding or making one that will work well into the future.
